Pay rate: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

On - site position: Stafford, TX

Schedule: On call as needed for Overnight Weekends (Saturday & Sunday 11pm-7am)

 

Are you empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting young adults on their journey to mental wellness? Join OPI Houston as an Overnight Mentor and make a meaningful impact during evening and overnight hours.

 

As an Overnight On Call Mentor , you’ll work with clients ages 18–28 in a calm, structured environment. You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to mental health and well-being. This role is ideal for those who thrive in quieter settings and value maintaining strong professional and personal boundaries.

 

During the night shift, your focus will be on providing a safe, supportive presence, assisting with evening routines, and ensuring continuity of care overnight. While this position is less physically active than daytime roles, you’ll still engage with clients through meaningful conversations, life skills support, and occasional therapeutic activities. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, responding calmly to unexpected situations, and fostering a sense of security for young adults as they rest and recharge.

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement and Support: Build meaningful, supportive relationships with clients, maintaining professional boundaries while assisting with their daily needs and activities.
  • Effective Treatment Application: Review and apply treatment team strategies daily to drive client progress .
  • Crisis Management Expertise: Utilize advanced de-escalation techniques and crisis management training to support clients, ensuring a calm and safe environment.
  • Attachment-Based Care: Embrace a caregiver role with empathy and intentionality, fostering attuned relationships and providing constructive feedback to support client growth.
  • Campus Cleanliness and Maintenance: Contribute to a clean and welcoming environment by managing campus upkeep, supporting clients with chores, and addressing maintenance issues promptly.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain thorough and precise documentation of client interactions and staff interventions to ensure consistent and effective care.
  • Professional Standards and Compliance: Uphold company values, communicate effectively, adhere to policies, and maintain punctuality while managing time off and avoiding unauthorized overtime.

Qualifications

  • Age: 21 years of age or older
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D required. Associates or bachelor's in human services, psychology, criminal justice, or related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Quick decision-making skills and a growth mindset with a focus on Embarks core values.
  • Experience: Min of 1 year of experience working with adolescent populations is preferred
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred, will provide training 
  • Background Checks: Must pass pre-employment drug screen and federal and state background check in concordance with Texas state laws.
  • Physical Intervention: Must be willing and able to participate in physical interventions (e.g., therapeutic holds) when necessary, following all safety protocols and trauma-informed practices
  • Physical Readiness: Comfortable with physically active work, including standing, walking, and engaging in interventions as part of a team-based safety approach
